Forget About Influencers, These Are New York’s Real Street Style Stars

Fauré Le Page...

With a whopping 1.3 million followers and a feed full of endless style inspiration that never fails to delight, fashion photographer Johnny Cirillo, aka @watchingnewyork, has worked his way into the hearts of hundreds of thousands of fashion fans worldwide. And for good reason.

In an oversaturated world of fashion influencers and celebrities who work with stylists for red-carpet events and their everyday looks, it’s incredibly refreshing to find inspiration out in the wild.

Like our Medium Book Tote series, @watchingnewyork takes to the streets of Brooklyn (where his love for capturing street style began in 2016) and Manhattan to bring New York fashion to the masses.

Real People, Real Style

While his account is not strictly bag-focused, it is real, showcasing everything from full vintage fits to luxury looks to lust over, many of them complete with some of our favorite designer bags. What they all have in common, though, is that each look (and his account is full of thousands of them) captures a true sense of personal style.

He’s dubbed himself “The People’s Paparazzi,” which is fitting, given that his work shares the style of people going out about their daily lives and looking good while doing it. Whether out for a dog walk, heading to work, or meeting friends for a drink, Cirillo is there to capture it all in style.

The Best Bags from Coachella 2023 As Seen on Instagram, Cirillo collaborated with Gucci, and last year, he published his first book, Watching New York. The street style is just beginning.
