In modern handbag history, there are more silhouettes than ever to choose from. Gone are the days of picking from a simple shoulder bag, top handle bag, or tote. Bottega Veneta’s Newest Jodie Bag
Recently I was doing my normal internet rounds and checking out the handbag and accessory drops. Part of this is actually calculated, professional research to monitor what’s trending for a coming season and what’s on its way out. Still, self-admittedly, part of this is me poking around to see what I personally need to add to my want list (Bottega Veneta Eyewear cat eye-frame sunglasses). In doing so, I nearly scrolled straight past the Bottega Veneta Mini Jodie Bag, “nothing to see,” I thought to myself until I took a second glance and Trifold there WAS something to see.
The silhouette of the bag is exactly the same as the original, which let me preface this by saying that I own (and love), but with the addition of a removable chain strap. The strap can be used as a handcuff (???) or worn over the shoulder, or it can be completely removed altogether, which, quite honestly, is how the bag should be worn.

It’s kind of throwing me off? I’m not exactly sure why; to me, it just feels…unnatural and unnecessary. Maybe I’m just closed-minded, though, or maybe I’m just irritated at people, err things, portraying themselves as something they’re not.
The bag was designed to be toted as a cute top handle bag. Though not the most functional, it packs a punch in fashion, as it’s meant to. Why ruin a good thing? What’s the purpose of this strap? Does one pull it on the ground, behind them, if they get tired of carrying it? Is it to thwart a burglary? 🤷♀️ It just looks silly & unnecessary.
No one else is saying it so I will- what are you doing with it when you va e to go to the bathroom? This falls in the category of bodysuits. I don’t want my bottega veneta anywhere near a public toilet so . . . you unhook yourself from the bag before handing it to your bestie or hanging it on the back of the stall?too many Bags
Honestly, that looks ridiculous. I love the Mini Jodie and think it’s really cute; but with the handcuff looking thing?? Absolutely not.

I bought it with the chain and I love it. Gives me the hands free option. Can hang it on a hook or a chair . I’m more practical with my bags and for me this added strap works
