Sabato De Sarno wants to change the way we dress. There are no rules anymore. Fashion converses with reality, and what is presented defies what is expected. Ready-to-wear feels innately feminine but with an edge. Velvet dresses with lace details give way to sheer sheaths, and twin sets worn underneath staple outerwear. A strong array of knitwear pieces is featured throughout, and this collection is all about unexpected details—jacquard prints that depict a geometric heron, only distinguishable up close. At the same time, crystal fringes create a ribbed motif.
New Bags Nod to the Archives
On the runway, there are many new bags to mull over. First, there is a very consumer-friendly new top-handle bag called GG Milano; it arrives in an array of fun colors and is crafted from nappa leather with a puffy finish featuring a perforated logo print.
That same embossed logo leather appears on RTW, too, like a stunning Gucci logo leather jacket, shown with a matching heritage-inspired travel vanity case.
Sitting alongside new iterations of the Jackie Notte is a half-moon-shaped silhouette inspired by equestrian motifs found in the Gucci Archive. Offering a contemporary appeal, this rounded shape is shown in shiny leathers and exotics in Gucci’s new staple hues. It is finished with an interlocking GG logo.
The collection also features nods to iconic Gucci Bamboo, like a supple leather clutch that is finished with hardware replicating Gucci’s storied Bamboo handles. More literally, there is a Bamboo top handle mini that oozes classic Gucci heritage. View bags from the runway below.
